Longmorn 15

The Longmorn 15 yr old is a lovely speyside malt, distilled in Elgin.  It is very well priced at the BCLDB, $63.95 for 750 ml. According to the Royal Mile Whiskies web page, the 15 year old is soon to be discontinued and replaced by the more expensive 8 yr old.

Dipsophilia tasting notes (Jackie):

Colour: Golden, rich.

Nose: Toffee sweetness with a hint of fruit (apples possibly) and spices.

Palate: Mellow, sweet but not overly done, very smooth, lots of flavour.

Finish: Long, fruity (think Christmas cake) and smooth.

Balance: Well balanced, a good dram.

Whisky Magazine Tasting Notes (from
Royal Mile Whiskies web page)
Nose: Smooth, rich and elegant. Fruity weight: semi-dried soft fruits (peach), fresh cherry, toffee, tea leaf, pecan, toasted nut. Superb balance.
Palate: Ripe. Clootie dumpling mix, damson, cinnamon dusted on top of rich honeyed soft fruit. Light wood oils. Packed with flavour.

Finish: Long, ripe, dark fruits

Comment: This has fantastic complexity and balance. Subtle yet powerful. Seamless. Very good.
