Glen Mhor Back to Whisky Reviews "Glen Mhor" means "Great Glen" in Gaelic. This distillery was founded in 1892 by John Birnie & James McKinley and production commenced in 1894. Unfortunately, the distillery was closed in 1983, and the buildings were torn down to make way for a supermarket. Sad. Glen Mhor 28 yr old (1976) Jackie's Review: nose - oranges, oak, (almost peaty oak), slightly spicy taste - sweetness, toffee (?) but not overly sweet. Very smooth. finish - short on the finish at first....but wait for it....it's almost peaty, and lingers. think twigs and bark! balance - excellent whisky. Just when you think you've figured it out....more tastes come at you. a splash of water brought out more of the florals, but it doesn't need it. Score = 90 |
