We
arrived at the restaurant and were shown upstairs to a great area for hosting
private parties! We were given cocktails while we waited for dinner. Of
course… Highland Park mojitos.
First Course
Highland Park 12 yo
Tartare of Ahi & Albacore tuna, fresh cut potato chips
A
good match, chips were nice and salty, the crunchy cucmber added good texture.
Note
that the September 2008 12 yo contains 6 out of 50 casks that were older than 30
years!
Main Course
Highland Park 18 yo
Seared Queen Charlotte sablefish with forest mushroom and parmesan risotto
Another excellent pairing – rich risotto needed the bolder 18 yo. Note the
average age of the casks in the 2008 18 yo was 27 years! These guys don’t mess
around.
Dessert Course
Highland Park 25 yo
House
made Apple Strudel with vanilla gelato
Great
paring, the apple strudel goes well with the caramel sweetness of the 25 yo. I
much prefer the 30 yo to the 25 year old….but still, the 25 yo is very
enjoyable.
Apres Course
Highland Park 40 yo
The
40 yo is 48.3%. A very mellow whisky…..I would not have guessed it was a
Highland Park in a blind tasting. I still prefer the 30 yo old…..still has the
“signature” HP tastes!
