Drink of the Month - July 2009

Canada Day Cocktails!

Happy Canada Day - hope you stocked up on all things Canadian, eh?!

Here's a few ideas for Canadian cocktails, mostly from teh book 10,000 Drinks by Paul Knorr.

Canadian Cocktail

1 1/2 Parts Canadian Whiskey

1/2 part Triple Sec

dash bitters

dash powdered sugar

shake with ice and strain over cocktail glass

Canadian Manhattan

3 parts Canadian Whiskey

1 part sweet vermouth

shake with ice and strain into cocktail glass.  Garnish with cherry.

Free Bird

1 1/2 parts Canadian Whiskey

fill with ginger ale

splash Blue Curacao

Build over ice in highball glass.

Hackensack Lemonade

2 parts Canadian Whiskey

1 part Triple Sec

1 part Lime Juice

1 part Lemon Juice

dash powdered sugar

fill with club soda

Shake all but club soda with ice, strain into Collins glass, top with club soda.

Royal Mounted Police

2 parts Canadian Whiskey

1/2 part Blue Curacao

1/2 Part dry sherry

Shake with ice and strain into cocktail glass.
